Guest Blog: Chris Fraser of This I Dig talks Translink and Jazz.

Are you involved in the jazz scene in one way or another?

Is your primary means of travel through public transportation?

I am of the firm belief that the wellbeing of the jazz scene a city is inextricably linked to the efficiency and accessibility of her transit system. Here in Vancouver, Translink is considered by many to be one of the best bus and train systems in Canada but in my own experience, I have found it to be lacking in certain departments when it comes to accommodating a night out seeing or playing music. But I don't want to write a thinkpiece about how Translink helps or hinders the jazz scene using only my own experience. That's where you come in. At the bottom of this post, there is a link to a survey. If you have any experience with translink as it relates to your participation in the jazz scene, be it just using it to go to and from school, going out to shows or even to your own gigs.

The goal is to collect some data from the answers you give in the survey right now, and I will report back with another post in the near future detailing some conclusions based on your opinions. Hopefully it will become clear which issues are the most harmful to the scene. Maybe the opposite will happen where most people are happy with the system and I've been doing it wrong this whole time. Either way what I need from everybody participating in the survey is honesty. This is our transit system that we all pay for, I think it's fair that we do our best as a community to take full advantage of it.

Take the quick survey here!
